Regional alumni chapters in 18 cities: New York, Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, Denver, Seattle, Miami, Nashville, Pittsburgh, Rochester, Buffalo, and Toronto. Each chapter hosts 4–6 events annually (networking mixers, game watches, community service).

Events & Reunions

Homecoming Weekend (October): tailgating, class reunions (5/10/15/20/25+ year), alumni awards dinner, parade, Mongoose vs. rival football game. Reunion classes receive special programming and class gift campaigns.

Spring Alumni Weekend (April): campus tours showcasing new facilities, faculty lectures, wine tasting, golf tournament.

Regional events: networking happy hours, career panels, cultural outings in all 18 chapter cities. Young Alumni events (classes of last 10 years): quarterly mixers, professional development workshops, mentoring circles. Volunteer appreciation reception each May for all alumni who gave time during the year.

Alumni Communications

Mongoose Magazine: published 3x/year (spring, fall, winter), featuring alumni profiles, campus updates, research highlights. Mailed to all alumni with a valid address; digital edition at magazine.mongooseuniversity.edu.

Monthly e-newsletter “The Mongoose Minute” with alumni news, event invitations, and university updates.

Class Notes: share your career moves, marriages, births, and achievements — submit at alumni.mongooseuniversity.edu/classnotes. Alumni podcast “Beyond the Quad” (monthly): interviews with notable alumni about career journeys and life after MU.

Career & Professional Development

Alumni career services are available for life at no cost. Services include: one-on-one career counseling (virtual appointments available), resume and LinkedIn profile reviews, job board access through MongooseHire (500+ postings, alumni-preferred positions), salary negotiation workshops (quarterly, virtual).

Mongoose Mentoring Program: 400+ alumni mentors across 30+ industries matched with students and recent graduates. Mentors commit to 2 hours/month for one academic year. Industries most represented: healthcare (18%), education (15%), technology (14%), finance (12%), engineering (10%), business/consulting (8%), government/nonprofit (8%), arts/media (5%), other (10%).

Executive Speaker Series: 6 events/year featuring C-suite alumni sharing insights. Past speakers include CEOs, hospital system presidents, tech founders, and federal judges. Graduate school advising available for alumni considering advanced degrees.

Annual Fund & Giving

The Mongoose Annual Fund supports scholarships, faculty development, campus improvements, and student programs. Last year: 6,200 alumni donors raised $4.8M. Every gift matters — 78% of donations are under $250.

Giving levels: Mongoose Circle ($1–$249), Green & Gold Society ($250–$999), Founders Society ($1,000–$4,999), Presidential Circle ($5,000–$24,999), Benefactors Circle ($25,000+). Gifts are tax-deductible.

Volunteer Opportunities

Alumni Admissions Ambassador: attend college fairs, host admitted student receptions, and contact admitted students in your area (training provided, ~10 hours/year).

Class Agent: serve as the primary alumni contact for your graduating class, help plan reunions, support class gift campaigns.

Alumni Board of Directors: 24-member governing board elected to 3-year terms, meets quarterly, oversees alumni programming and strategic direction. Guest lecturer: share your expertise with current students (one-time or recurring, in-person or virtual). Internship/job sponsor: post opportunities on MongooseHire and host MU student interns. Scholarship committee: review applications for alumni-funded scholarships.

Legacy & Planned Giving

The Mongoose Heritage Society recognizes alumni and friends who include MU in their estate plans. Options: bequest in will or trust, beneficiary designation (retirement account, life insurance), charitable gift annuity (provides lifetime income + tax benefits), donor-advised fund grants.

Legacy scholarships: name an endowed scholarship starting at $25,000. 142 endowed scholarships currently funded by alumni, supporting 380+ students annually.
