Supporting Your Student Academically
Your student has access to comprehensive academic support, and knowing what’s available helps you guide conversations.
Academic Advising: Every student is assigned an advisor who helps with course selection, major exploration, and graduation planning. Encourage your student to meet with their advisor at least once per semester.
Tutoring Center (Library, 2nd Floor): Free drop-in and appointment tutoring in 40+ subjects.
Writing Center (Library, 3rd Floor): Support for papers, essays, and research projects.
Career Services (Student Center, Suite 310): Internship placement, resume help, and career counseling — 72% of students complete an internship by graduation.
Early Alert System: Faculty can flag students showing academic difficulty by week 4; the Student Success team reaches out directly.
If your student is struggling, encourage them to use office hours (all faculty are required to hold a minimum of 4 hours/week) and reach out to the Student Success Center at studentsuccess@mongooseuniversity.edu or (555) 478-3250.
Common first-year challenges: Time management, homesickness, balancing academics and social life. The Counseling Center (free, confidential) is available for adjustment support.
