Neuroscience — B.S.
Why Neuroscience? The brain is the most complex structure in the known universe, and understanding it is one of the greatest scientific frontiers of our time. Mongoose University’s Neuroscience program sits at the intersection of biology, chemistry, psychology, and computer science, giving you a uniquely interdisciplinary foundation.
Our students don’t just learn about the brain in a classroom — they investigate it. Through our partnership with the Mongoose Regional Medical Center’s Neuroimaging Lab, undergraduates gain hands-on experience with fMRI and EEG technology rarely available outside graduate programs. Faculty research spans Alzheimer’s disease, addiction neurobiology, neural plasticity, and brain-computer interfaces. Students regularly co-author peer-reviewed publications with faculty mentors.
The program prepares graduates for medical school (82% acceptance rate for those who apply), Ph.D. programs in neuroscience and related fields, and emerging careers in neurotech, pharmaceutical research, and health data science.
Sample Courses: NEUR 201 Foundations of Neuroscience, NEUR 250 Cellular & Molecular Neurobiology, NEUR 310 Neuroanatomy, NEUR 330 Behavioral Neuroscience, NEUR 360 Neuropharmacology, NEUR 400 Computational Neuroscience, NEUR 450 Advanced Neuroimaging Methods, NEUR 490 Senior Research Thesis.
