Registration & Records

Course Registration

How to Register for Classes

All course registration is completed through the MyMongoose Student Portal (my.mongooseuniversity.edu). Here’s how:

  1. Log in to MyMongoose with your Mongoose ID and password
  2. Navigate to “Registration” > “Add/Drop Classes”
  3. Search for courses by subject, number, keyword, or instructor
  4. Add courses to your cart and click “Register”
  5. Verify your schedule on the “My Schedule” tab

Tip: Build a backup list of courses in case your first choices are full. Waitlists are available for most courses — you’ll be automatically enrolled if a seat opens and will receive an email notification.

  • Academic Hold: Missing academic advisor meeting — schedule via MyMongoose or contact your department
  • Health Hold: Missing immunization records — contact the Campus Health Center at (555) 478-3240
  • Library Hold: Overdue materials or fines — contact the library at (555) 478-3260

Check your holds in MyMongoose under “Student Records” > “View Holds.” Most holds can be resolved within 1-2 business days.

Adding, Dropping & Withdrawing

Add/Drop Period

During the first week of classes (see Academic Calendar for exact dates), you can freely add or drop courses with no academic or financial penalty. Dropped courses do not appear on your transcript and you receive a full tuition refund.

Late Add

After the add/drop period, adding a course requires instructor permission via a signed Course Add Form submitted to the Registrar’s Office. Late adds are rarely approved after the second week of classes.

Course Withdrawal

After the add/drop period through the withdrawal deadline (approximately week 10 — see Academic Calendar), you may withdraw from a course. A grade of “W” (Withdrawal) will appear on your transcript. Important notes:

  • “W” grades do not affect your GPA
  • No tuition refund after the add/drop period
  • Dropping below 12 credits affects full-time status, financial aid eligibility, and housing requirements
  • International students on F-1 visas must maintain full-time enrollment — consult International Student Services before withdrawing

Academic Standing & Policies

Good Academic Standing

Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students who fall below 2.0 are placed on Academic Probation and must meet with their academic advisor to develop an improvement plan. Students on probation for two consecutive semesters may face Academic Suspension. Visit Student Success for tutoring, advising, and academic support resources.

Course Repeat Policy

Students may repeat a course in which they earned a D+ or below. The higher grade replaces the lower grade in GPA calculations, though both attempts appear on the transcript. A maximum of 4 courses (12 credits) may be repeated under this policy. Courses may only be repeated once.

Academic Integrity

Mongoose University maintains a strict Academic Integrity Policy. Violations including plagiarism, cheating, and fabrication are adjudicated by the Academic Integrity Board. First offenses typically result in a zero on the assignment; second offenses may result in course failure or suspension.

Changing Your Major or Minor

To declare or change your major or minor:

  1. Meet with your current academic advisor to discuss the change
  2. Meet with an advisor in the new department
  3. Complete the Change of Major/Minor form in MyMongoose under “Academic Planning”
  4. The change is typically processed within 5 business days

Students may declare up to two majors and two minors. Double majors should consult both departments to create an efficient course plan. Explore all available Programs and the Course Catalog before making changes.
